Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 April 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how AfricanBusiness(“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information about you when you use our platform at africanbusiness.comand all vendor subdomains (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: When vendors register, we collect name, email address, phone number, business name, preferred subdomain, and government-issued ID for verification.

Customer order data: When a customer places an order, we collect first name, last name, email address, phone number, delivery address, and an optional payment receipt image.

Usage data: We automatically collect browser type, IP address, pages visited, referring URLs, and timestamps to improve the Service.

Payment evidence: Payment proof images uploaded by customers are stored in Firebase Storage and are visible only to the vendor who owns the store.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

  • Create and manage vendor accounts and storefronts
  • Process and display orders to the relevant vendor
  • Verify vendor identity and prevent fraud
  • Send transactional communications (e.g. application status updates)
  • Improve platform features and fix issues
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

3. Data Storage & Security

All data is stored using Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Storage), which provides industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit. We use Firebase Authentication for secure sign-in. Vendor passwords are never stored in plain text.

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. However, no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

4. Data Sharing

We share information only in the following circumstances:

  • Vendors: Customer order data (name, address, contact, payment proof) is shared with the vendor who owns the store where the order was placed.
  • Service providers: We use Google Firebase for hosting, authentication, and storage. Google's privacy policy applies to their services.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of AfricanBusiness or others.

5. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain user sessions (authentication tokens stored in browser memory via Firebase Auth) and to gather analytics. No third-party advertising cookies are used.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing activities

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@africanbusiness.com.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, by email or a notice on the platform.
