Terms of Service

Last updated: 18 April 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the services provided by AfricanBusiness (“we”, “us”, “our”) through africanbusiness.comand all associated vendor subdomains (the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By registering as a vendor, placing an order, or otherwise using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old (or have parental/guardian consent) and that you accept these Terms in full.

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. The Service

AfricanBusiness provides a multi-tenant e-commerce platform that allows approved vendors to create and operate online storefronts on unique subdomains (e.g., yourstore.africanbusiness.com). We act as a platform provider, not as a buyer or seller in any transaction between vendors and their customers.

3. Vendor Accounts

To operate a store, vendors must:

  • Submit a valid application and receive approval from AfricanBusiness
  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Keep login credentials secure and confidential
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorised account access

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. AfricanBusiness reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Vendor Responsibilities

Vendors agree to:

  • Only list products that are legal, genuine, and accurately described
  • Not list counterfeit goods, stolen property, or prohibited items
  • Honour orders placed by customers through their storefront
  • Respond promptly to customer enquiries and disputes
  • Keep product listings, pricing, and availability up to date
  • Comply with all applicable Nigerian laws and regulations

We reserve the right to remove any listing or store that we determine, at our sole discretion, violates these Terms or is harmful to customers or the platform.

5. Payments & Fees

The AfricanBusiness platform currently facilitates bank transfer payments between customers and vendors. Vendors provide their bank details; customers transfer funds directly and upload payment proof. AfricanBusiness does not handle, hold, or process monetary funds.

Vendor access to the platform is currently provided at no charge under the Starter tier. Paid tiers may be introduced in the future with advance notice.

6. Intellectual Property

AfricanBusiness and its associated logos, trade names, software, and platform design are the intellectual property of AfricanBusiness. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.

Vendors retain ownership of content they upload (product images, store descriptions, etc.) and grant AfricanBusiness a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display that content as part of the Service.

7. Customer Transactions

Transactions conducted through vendor storefronts are solely between the vendor and the customer. AfricanBusiness is not a party to these transactions and bears no liability for disputes, refunds, delivery failures, or product quality issues.

Customers are encouraged to review vendor store policies before placing an order.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, AfricanBusiness shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to AfricanBusiness in the 12 months preceding the claim, or ₦10,000 — whichever is greater.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that violates these Terms, is fraudulent, harmful, or unlawful, or at our reasonable discretion.

You may close your vendor account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your storefront will be taken offline and your data will be retained for a period of 30 days before deletion, unless a shorter period is required by law.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria.
